In the summer of 2012, the Utica First Christian Church traveled to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Gulfport to kick off our Bunk Bed Mission Project. The group from Utica FCC demonstrated the building of the bunk bed prototype for our group of volunteers. We collected $3,500 to purchase the materials, mattresses, and linens for 20 sets of bunk beds. The beds were then delivered to foster homes that were preparing to take in displaced children until permanent homes could be found.
